One of our customer NBE International at Natural Cool Building is using a Single FS20 Fingerprint Reader to control two separate doors to the office.
In this case, the staff can enter the office by either doors after presenting their finger on the reader.
Another innovative idea from Hense Technology. If you have an specific or special requirement on the fingerprint technology, do contact us for a discussion. I am confident that you will be surprised at the many applications you can do with your fingers.

More Unauthorized access to HDB Rooftops
Just reported in the past 3 days, more authorized access to HDB roof tops. So will changing to high quality locks about S$50 each prevent future unauthorized access? Can people still prise open the latches with the change to high quality locks? Well, following photos tells the truth:
Certainly, to spend $10M on the lock change, it can be used to upgrade to a more secure, automated and efficient biometric system.
Notice lock latch is incorrectly mounted.
For older roof top access, here are the concerns:

Foolproof system to control the access to HDB rooftop and pump room - Trial Done
In the past week, the discovery of a maid body in Woodland HBD block water tank highlights the urgent need for foolproof system to control and manage the access of rooftops and pump rooms rather than the traditional method of signing out physical keys from town council offices. A similar incident back in 2003 whereby some kids pouedr soap powder at the water pump room sparkled off a serious debate to have an automated secure and foolproof system to manage the access in HDB blocks.
- All access to the rooftops and pump rooms are installed with fingerprint readers that is linked to the Town Council systems using broadband/3G network. This allows real-time control of these access control point by the town council management staff
- The time period to whom and which group of workers allow to access the rooftops are set and managed by the town council staff. Example if group a with supervisor Mr X is allowed to block 123 at 10am to 2pm, then the access permission will be set in the system and after 2pm Mr X and team cannot access the rooftop.
- No physical keys to signout at town council offices and contractors do not need return or make spares key.
So, if the various town councils are keen to review this foolproof fingerprint access control management systems for their HDB blocks to secure the access to rooftops/watertanks and water pump rooms, we are ready to demo the full effectiveness and secure features. With automated systems, town councils will no longer need to manage the huge numbers of keys to so many locks to highly secured areas like rooftops and pump rooms. This system will payoff itself in the long run with no more locks and key replacement cost plus the added security features.
Hense Technology with another partner did a Trial project as a POC with East Coat Town Council to secure the rooftops and pump rooms of 4 HDB blocks in Simei in 2007/8 with the following features:
- Authorized personnels will have their fingers registered in the Town Council system and only they can open the rooftop access or the pump rooms- All access to the rooftops and pump rooms are installed with fingerprint readers that is linked to the Town Council systems using broadband/3G network.
- No physical keys to signout at town council offices and contractors do not need return or make spares key.- There is no need to have to change locks when the keys are missing or any breach in the access, saving of thousands of dollars in locks and keys replacement
- All the access records are tracked real-time at the Town Council office thus any future need to trace the access personnel on a particular day is in the database.
- For added security, door sensors can be added with the system such as when any doors or access are forced or left open accidentally, it will sound an alarm locally and also an alarm to the Town Council office.
Realtime Report of workers in Tunnel, Work Sites - Downtown Line MRT
Shanghai Tunnel, the contractor of Downtown MRT line is our latest customer using the FS20 Fingerprint units with 3G modems for their tunnelling worksites at Marina Bay, Raffles and Nicoll Highway.
The application is to track who are the workers in each of the tunnel worksite and a realtime report on who are in the worksite can be generated with a click of button at the HQ server. IN and OUT readers are mounted at the guard house as shown here.
This photo shows the actual operation at site, workers going into the tunnel will have to be clocked in using his finger and when he leave the worksite he will clock out using his finger. At HQ, management can have access the real-time report on all the workers in the tunnel, how many and who are they. If you have a need to track workers at your worksite, you can consider to use this efficient and effective system.

Jurong Sec School - Another MOE project for full Fingerprint System for Time Attendance and Access Control
Well, at the beginning of Mar, I wrote about the MOE project at Crescent Girls School to wire up all the classrooms for fingerprint access control and Time Attendance. Now, together with our partner Simplex Consultants, we have been awarded another school in the West - Jurong Secondary School.
For Jurong Sec School (JSS), the project is even bigger than Crescent Girls with 80 fingerprint readers for the classrooms and staff rooms, 152 sets of EM-lock and 12 Time Attendance with Temperature Kiosks.
All the hardware including the Fingerprint Units, EM-lock sets, backup batteries and metal casings have been delivered and stored in JSS. Installation should commence in early April to wire practically the whole school.
Installation of all the fingerprint units at Crescent Girls should complete by the end of Mar and Simplex will decide the schedule on the commission of the whole system.

Pokka Singapore - another installation reference

One of our fingerprint readers installation this week for time attendance and access control is at Pokka Singapore, yes, yes the drinks company that bring us famous Green Tea and Ice Lemon Tea.
The FS20 fingerprint readers are used for management offices access and time attendance for their staff. Due to the need to track IN an OUT times, the main door has two readers one for entry and the out for exit. Now without your fingers you cannot go in Pokka office and get out when the day's work is done.

Guess who is with Pokka now.... Remember Irin Gan from Mediacorp, well she is now with the marketing group. This lady still have the looks and the elegance, let's support and drink more Pokka drinks...........

Challenger POS with Fingerprint, Fingerprint Time Attendance

This week I am going to blog about a project that we worked with Challenger Store on the integration of fingerprint technology to their POS (Point Of Sales), staff time attendance system and store room access. Challenger since 2007 has used the fingerprint for cashier logon on the POS and also supervisor over-ride on any error or correction on the POS transaction. The cashier and supervior must present their fingers on the scanner in order to logon and override transaction replacing the use of user ID and passwords. This remove the possibility of fraud in approving illegal transactions.

With the use of internet based Time Attendance systems for all Challenger's outlet, they are now able to get live reports on Staff attendance realtime. The HQ in Funan will be able to know which staff and function at each outlet is absent at 11am each day and thus able to re-deploy staff from other outlets.
Checkout the Fingerprint scanner at the POS when you visit Challenger next time.
